Since 2003, somethingsomething studios has pushed the boundaries of non-fiction storytelling. Arwen Hunter has heralded projects that have taken her from the centre of the vast Pacific Ocean to crossing Canada at 500ft in a bush plane. She has produced projects for History Television, the Lifetime Network, CBC North and Victoria’s Chek Television often interviewing A-list talent including Harrison Ford and Kim Bassinger. The controversial documentary “Petals” debuted and was nominated in its category at the International Documentary Festival of Amsterdam – the world’s largest documentary film festival. The film has since gone on to be celebrated around the world at festivals and broadcasts including on Israeli TV, and has been released on DVD and Netflix in Canada by Mongrel Media.
Working in collaboration with Gamut Productions in Victoria, Arwen’s client list has included the Ministry of Agriculture, Tourism Vancouver Island, Transport Canada, Viking Air, the PHSA First Nations Health Council and work with high-end agencies such as Copeland and Redbird Communications. Arwen has crossed Vancouver Island countless times with Gamut by car, train, plane, helicopter, sailboat and even traditional cedar canoe. While at Gamut, Arwen assisted in filming a Potlach, a Powow, a Canoe Journey, an entire Treaty Process, and enjoyed extensive travels to cultural tourism destinations- all the while developing a deep respect for the culture and traditions of Canada’s first peoples. Working mainly in High Definition, Arwen also often dabbles in Super 8 film projects and has devoted many hours toward programs aimed at giving media skills to “Youth at Risk”. Several exciting projects are currently in development, including Sky’s the Limit, an international business travel program produced in partnership with Chek Television.
